Douglas Lake 24″x36″ One-sided. Waterproof and Tear Resistant! Douglas Reservoir is located among the rolling uplands of the Great Valley of east Tennessee. Set against the backdrop of the lush, green Smoky Mountain foothills, Douglas attracts two million recreation visitors a year. Picnicking, camping, boating, and fishing are all popular activities at the reservoir. Douglas and other TVA reservoirs built during World War II made a historic contribution, providing hydropower to drive the war effort. The reservoir remains an integral unit in the overall water control system in the Tennessee Valley. Douglas provides 550 miles of shoreline and greater than 30,000 acres of water surface for recreation activities. The lake itself is 43.1 miles long, with a maximum depth of 140 feet, and collects water from a 4,541 square mile watershed. The lake is fed by the French Broad River and Nolichucky River, both of which originate in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. Douglas Lake is renowned for its Large Mouth Bass and Crappie. Other popular sport fish include Whire Bass, Sauger, Black Crappie, Striped Bass, Spotted Bass, Walleye, Blue Cat, Flat Head Catfish, Channel Catfish, Red Horse, Red Breast Sunfish and Bluegill. Douglas Lake is rated one of the top five Crappie fishing lakes in the nation, also in the top 10 in the nation for Large Mouth Bass. Spring and Fall are the more preferred times to fish in Douglas Lake.
